We’ve had another busy week here in school. Year 3, Year 1 and Year 2 started their weekly swimming sessions again and they thoroughly enjoyed their time in the pool. Year 3 will continue swimming until October half term and then Reception will begin. Please remember to provide a towel and swimming costume only for your child.
Mr Wallace held football trials on Tuesday after school this week and he was very impressed with the number of children who put themselves forward. Twenty-seven children in total took part in the trials and they enjoyed playing in a mini league which gave them the chance to impress us with their skills, leadership and sportsmanship. After a long discussion, ten children have been chosen to represent our school at a tournament at Gosforth Academy on Tuesday 28th September. The children from Year 5 and 6 should be extremely proud of themselves and the positive attitude they displayed. We wish them all lots of luck next week!
Our new children in Nursery and Reception continue to settle into new routines extremely well. I enjoyed my time with Reception class this week, reading stories, singing and dancing!
A very big thank you to the group of 6 pupils who helped us during an interview process this week. We are delighted to have appointed two new staff members to our team and will be introducing them soon.
Lyndsay McMenzie is our new Family Support Worker and if anyone needs to contact Lyndsay her details are on ParentHub.
I have put some information out this week regarding high school open evenings. If your child is in Year 6, applications must be submitted by 31st October. If you need any support with this please don’t hesitate to contact us. I would recommend that you choose three schools. Applications are also open for Reception Class. Please remember that a place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception! Again, any questions please speak to us.
Overall, whole school attendance in the past week was 96.04% which is a slight dip from last week. Year 2 were the best attenders this week with 98.93%, well done! Please remember that attendance is extremely important and has a huge impact on your child’s learning.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone and we will see you all on Monday morning.
